Experience Summary
I am a senior at Princeton University with five years of tutoring experience. I will earn my degree in English in 2011, which has honed my writing, editing, and proofreading skills. I have very extensive experience tutoring for standardized tests. When the score was out of 1600, I received a 1530 (770 Verbal and 760 Math)on the SAT and an 800 on the SAT II Writing Test. I am qualified to tutor for any high school history class, including those at the AP level. In the past five years, I have tutored students in writing, Geometry, Algebra, the process of writing research papers, and SAT preparation. I can also aid in the application process at any level.
Teaching Style
I am very creative in coming up with ways to teach information to students and get them interested in the material. I am patient and willing to go over things until I know my pupil can confidently complete the task assigned on his or her own. I believe that practice and repetition is key to understanding. I have built a knowledge base of tricks and tactics for success on standardized tests. My students generally like me a lot on a personal level, and as a result, they seem to work harder to complete their assignments. This is especially advantageous for high school age kids because I am close enough in age that I seem like a friend, but still old enough to be an authority figure.
