Experience Summary
I earned two bachelor degrees from the University of North Carolina in December of 2007. From there, I chose to move to Massachusetts to participate in a ground breaking fellowship at MATCH Charter Public High School. I chose this alternate route to receiving teaching certification because of the classroom experience it provided me. In addition to earning certification and completing student teaching hours, I tutored for 20-30 hours a week in all subject areas in grades 9, 10, and 11. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading, writing, history, and biology.
Teaching Style
I am a passionate teacher and tutor. I believe that there is not a minute to waste when working with youth, and I like to conduct vigorous tutorials and well-paced classes. I believe that everyone has a different learning style, and this is why tutoring is such an integral supplement to classroom teaching. I enjoy getting to know my students and creating lesson plans for tutorials based on their personal learning styles. I believe that a student has to be engaged and challenged in order to learn and I absolutely provide that in my tutorials.
