Experience Summary
My career as a professional violinist has offered me many unique opportunities and experiences over the years. I find that teaching is one of the experiences I enjoy the most. I have been teaching violin lessons to children and adults for over 19 years, and continue to do so today. I began my career in Paris, France, where I lived for five years, and have maintained my fluent French language skills. I have a very strong background in creative writing in the English language as well; before beginning my career as a violinist, I won some minor writing awards and had the opportunity to work as an editor and proof-reader. Writing and proper use of language continue to be skills I value very highly.
Teaching Style
I love teaching children. I enjoy getting to know how each child thinks and works, and finding the best way to teach them in a way that is meaningful and gratifying. My approach is usually very methodical, and I believe a strong foundation allows for a deep and thorough understanding of the subject at hand. I consider my working relationship with my students to be a team effort, one that requires their input and communication as well as my own. It is very gratifying for me to help my students begin to realize their own potential, and to help them learn to cultivate that in a way that reaches far beyond any one subject. In that way, I believe I am able to make the most useful difference for all of my students.
