Experience Summary
I began my education at Purdue University, where I completed three years of a Construction Engineering and Management program. I then changed to an education program at Trinity International University and graduated with a BS in Secondary Math Education. During college and in the years after, I tutored extensively in physics, computer programming (Fortran 90), math, and SAT/ACT prep. For five years I taught middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and currently am a teaching assistant at Florida Gulf Coast University in College Algebra and Statistics.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is conversational and relaxed. I am an expert at overcoming school-related anxiety, especially related to math. I have excellent listening and communication skills and quickly pick up what my students needs are. I am quick on my feet and am able to flex with nearly any situation so that the student's needs are met. I very much enjoy connecting with my students, and relating their personal interests to the material being learned. I believe that modeling is one of the best ways to teach, and students learn quickly when I explain the concept and then we model together how to find a solution.
