Experience Summary
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. I have always enjoyed all levels of mathematics and science and have enjoyed using it in my work and daily life. I naturally take an interest in helping others learn challenging concepts. I am passionate about helping others use, learn and understand the value these subjects can play in their life. I have over 10 years of practical work experience as an engineer that would allow me to provide tangible applications of abstract concepts which will help improve subject learning. I am currently volunteering to tutor two eighth graders with Algebra I.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about the value of math and science. I am a logical, well-organized and patient person. I am cognizant that students may have different learning styles. I can interpret complex concepts and teach the essence of the subject to help to facilitate a student’s ability to learn. In order to succeed and gain self-confidence of the subject it is necessary develop good patterns of learning. One should be detailed, learn good work habits and practice through repetition. I would like to eliminate potential negative experiences in these subjects. Through clarification, positive reinforcement and practical application a student could be excited and eager to learn the value of these subjects.
