Experience Summary
Most of my experience working with students comes from being a teacher. After receiving my degree in Psychology, I joined Teach for America and spent my summer designing and executing lesson plans for a Chemistry class. The following school year, I taught high school Biology in Memphis City Schools. I continued to attend training sessions and workshops throughout the year to develop methods to improve my teaching. I also spent many hours after school and on weekends working with my students to help them learn the material. By the end of the school year, 94% of my students passed their end of course exam and 59% received advanced scores.
Teaching Style
I believe there is nothing more satisfying than watching students succeed. As a teacher, I strive to make that happen for every student. I love working with children and teens, especially when I can make the experience of learning enjoyable and gratifying for them. I try to develop lessons that interact with the material as much as possible based on the learning styles of my students, and adapting the material for individual students when necessary. I also strive to go beyond the subject matter of my lessons. In my opinion, the best teachers provide students with skills and knowledge that will allow them to achieve any academic and career goals.
