Experience Summary
Having earned my college degrees as an adult, I am particularly interested in assisting adults in achieving their educational goals.
I taught GED Preparation courses for seven years at the local Adult Education Program and assisted approximately 30 students in obtaining their GED. English and math were the main subject matter for these tests and study/test taking skills were reviewed.
In my current position as the Executive Director of a local human service organization, I have flexibility in my schedule to meet the needs of a student.
Teaching Style
Teaching comes naturally to me in that I love to work with people (i.e. my professional career) and I love to encourage and inspire others to advance their lives through education. I create a comfortable atmosphere for students so that their stress level is reduced and they are able to focus on learning. At the same time, I make lessons fun yet serious. Learning requires having an interest, having a goal and paying attention.
With individual tutoring, I use the opportunity to individualize lessons so students are motivated to achieve.
