Experience Summary
I have extensive experience in counseling and supervising school age children. I have tutored spanish, chemistry, and biology. As a secondary education with a concentration in biology, I have good knowledge of organic chemistry, intro chemistry, and intro biology. I also have taken comprehensive courses in psychology. Developmental, behavioral, and educational psychology have been a few of the courses that I have excelled in. I am currently a member of the Psychology Club at the University of Rhode Island. With such knowledge, I can also undertake tutoring and support any student who would need help in research writing. I am proficient in APA style and can provide any help with such type of writing and citing style.
Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy and style is to make sure the student comprehends the basics of any subject before starting any further or advance work. I find that in the sciences, fundamental knowledge of the basics is very important for the further advancement of really understanding and learning higher concepts. As a student myself who has had tutors and experienced what is needed of most students to do well in exams, fundamentals always played key. I also encourage students to learn through real life application of the science knowledge and practicing problems in an exam setting. This is a tactic to lessens test taking anxiety.
