Experience Summary
Born and raised in upstate New York, I graduated from Cornell University in the spring of 2000 with a B.S. in Biology. In 2003, after a short stay in the biotechnology world, I moved west to work for an outdoor science school in Southern California. Since then, I have had the pleasure of traveling all over the country and working with a variety of successful environmental education programs, summer camps, and adventure programs.
Teaching Style
Having worked with students of all ages in a variety of settings, I specialize in teaching science and math concepts as well as test prep and study skills. My mission as a tutor is to help students understand subject content while learning how to learn.
My favorite part of being a teacher is watching confusion and doubt become knowledge and confidence. I believe that this transition of ignorance to understanding is the hallmark of education and my goal is to motivate my students to seek these opportunities.
