Experience Summary
I have taught Kindergarten through 8th grade, in elementary ed, language arts, writing process, and social studies. I have tutored students in math and English, as well as worked in after school programs that focused on tutoring. I have graded over 1500 writing props for the State of Missouri, and have taught writing in school, as well as in an after school program.
Teaching Style
I am very organized, being on task and requiring my students to be so. I enjoy helping students learn and expect students to use their time wisely and productively.
When a student does not get a concept, I break it down in very small steps; thus, helping the child pinpoint where they are making errors and correcting them.
I encourage students by giving both verbal and non verbal rewards, such as stickers, and small prizes. Students seem to respond to my teaching style, and I have had success in improving student scores on standardized testing.
