Experience Summary
After earning my B.S. degree in Food and Nutrition Science, I was able to experience the use of science and mathematics in basic research, government service, and private industry. With this practical application of the sciences and math I understand the need of a student to grasp the basic concepts and principles in order to build an intellectual foundation. This foundation allows the student to progress to the level of understanding that is needed for success. I also believe that incorporating the use of computers along with the scientific theories gives the student the ability to expand their knowledge.
Teaching Style
As all students are individuals, the goal of the personal tutor is to detect what type of learning experience allows the individual student to best fulfill their potential. When the correct learning approach is found, the tutor can fully benefit the student. All students will respond positively when they are treated with dignity and know that the tutor believes in their abilities. Teaching with patience and consideration of the individual student’s needs will foster the understanding of the subject matter. I believe in a structured, paced approach to learning that focuses on the triumphs and not the mistakes.
