Experience Summary
As the daughter of two educators, I spent my childhood immersed in educational values. My passion for education lead me to attend Western Washington University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and History. I tutored Geometry and worked in several classrooms at both the high school and middle school level throughout my time at Western. After graduation, I taught seventh grade Medieval World History at Alderwood Middle School in the Edmonds School District. Through that position I not only gained experience within the middle school classroom, but also in teaching analysis within research papers and essays, basic reading, decoding, writing, and research skills with an incredibly diverse population.
Teaching Style
While it is my belief that all students have the ability to learn; I also understand that academics can be difficult. It is my job to support students who, for whatever reason, are having a difficult time in school, as well as provide extra support for students who want to get ahead. In the learning environments I provide, students are safe to ask questions, provide ideas and make mistakes while receiving respect and patience. While I support students in a positive manner by giving praise and constructive feedback, I also make sure that students are working hard and receiving authentic responses in a respectful manner.
