Experience Summary
I have worked as a teacher for 10 years. I have a passion for science and math. I have excelled in both areas while in college. I have taught science (Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, and Biology). I have also taught 7th and 8th grade mathematics. I was an active participant in our schools state test prep team, helping develop practice questions to ready our students to take and succeed on the AZ state AIMS test. I am well versed in multiple methods of instruction to help all types of student achieve success. The majority of my experience is instructing 7th and 8th grade level students. I have also worked in the area of discipline as a Student Service Specialist for 4 years.
Teaching Style
I have a variety of teaching styles that I use to help students of all abilities achieve. I am skilled in SEI/ELL strategies to help students of other languages. I have also taken classes developed by Ruby Payne which deals with poverty and how to reach hard to reach children. A quote that I have posted on my classroom walls is "Failure is not an option." I am a firm believer that all students can learn and achieve. They just need the right motivation, and encouragement. I am very creative and find new or different ways to teach/demonstrate a concept that students may find difficult to understand. I am very passionate about what I teach and how I teach it!
