Experience Summary
I hold a Master's degree in education. I taught Language Arts in an at-risk high school in a Denver suburb. My success in the classroom lead to my involvement in AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination. (See avidonline.org for more information.) I also have created, lead, and taught courses to aid students in college prep and study skills.
Teaching Style
I am warm, friendly, and engaging. I work with a student's learning styles and multiple intelligences to create a motivating learning environment. I weave all assignments with exposure to writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading. I believe in balancing rigor with support to enhance student success. I was honored in 2007 as being Teacher of the Year in my school district in Colorado for my commitment to students.
