Experience Summary
I have a very long history in school -- I have been in and out of school for many, many years, staggering my diploma, bachelor's, master's and doctorate across 25 years interspersed with jobs in industry. I believe learning is a lifelong process and that it never ends! I have a diploma in public relations, a bachelors in telecom, a master's in mass communication, and a doctorate in communication. My areas of focus have been advertising, public relations, and journalism and I have worked in all those fields -- I believe that writing and good communication are essential! Currently, I teach English at University of Alabama.
Teaching Style
I am a conversational teacher. I try to always start with where the student is at and build from there. I like listening to students and relating to them at their level and letting them draw from me all that they can take and encourage their learning. I believe the best learning takes place when students are provided the proper atmosphere in which to learn. Also, in order for students to be successful, they must be allowed to deal with things that interest them and that serve more needs than just to fulfill an assignment, so I try to keep it relevant, customized, and, of course, as much fun as possible!
