Experience Summary
I have taught chemistry at the high school, community college, and university levels. I can also teach math at the high school level or lower. I have taught students of diverse races, ages genders and nationalities. I have taught during the day, evenings, and week-ends. Most of my working life has been about teaching. Actually, I am a trained teacher and hold the equivalent of an AA degree with emphasis on teaching chemistry and mathematics at the high school level. During my teacher training program, I won a distinction award for excellence in teaching.
I am also trained to teach online chemistry at the college level, and have used it to teach two summer sessions.
Teaching Style
I teach from the known to the unknown (i.e. taking a concept that is already known, or an everyday activity, and relating it to new concepts.
I vary the teaching style to maintain the interest of the student. I use questions and answers, telling, demonstrating, or having students try experiments themselves.
I can tutor both face-to-face or online using e-mail or blackboard, video, etc.
