Experience Summary
I have been passionate about teaching for as long as I can remember. I earned both my Bachelor and Master degrees in the field of Education, plus I am applying for my PhD in the field. I have had experience with children in grades K-12, as an Elementary/Middle school teacher for the past seven years and a camp director for the City of Kissimmee for the past five years. I have also taught a wide variety of students from different cultures and backgrounds, becoming certified in English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL K-12), as well as an array of students with different learning styles, obtaining my certificate in Exceptional Student Education (ESE K-12.) Currently, I am a Program Specialist for the Florida Department of Education.
Teaching Style
I believe that every child can succeed with strategies to support their learning. My experience with students who do not know English and children who have disabilities, has really given me the opportunity to learn strategies to help all types of children learn. I have a proven record of helping struggling students to raise their FCAT scores. My number one priority when tutoring for the past ten years has been to motivate and get children interested in school. Many students need a little help with organizational skills, and after that, I show them how much fun learning can be! After transferring from the classroom to the State, I really miss working with kids, and the satisfaction of seeing a student's face when they really “get it.”
