Experience Summary
I am a retired US Coast Guard officer with twenty three years service, now holding a Bachelor of Science degree. I initially studied electrical engineering for two years, including chemistry, physics, and mathematics, and earned two year degree in mathematics and history. I then finished a bachelor's degree in business, with over twenty credits in mathematics. I have taught mathematics, science, history, social studies, and various other subjects in the public schools and at college level. I have taught workshops and classes in electronics. I tutored people in various subjects, including mathematics, Robert's Rules of Order, and those studying for certifications in the medical field.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and working with children. All children can learn, as I see it. Learning should be enjoyable, and something a child is eager to do. Some simply feel overwhelmed, and need to have subjects simplified and to be inspired to want to learn. In today's world, some subjects initially seem too complex. I am available to help your child feel inspired and to feel a sense of satisfaction in learning. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. I strive to find ways to simplify something a child finds difficult and frustrating. I believe a good educator can make a profound difference in a child's education.
