Experience Summary
I hold a BA in physical education & health,a MA in Reading/Literacy, and am highly qualified and certified to teach English/Language Arts. I have spent the past 29 years teaching these subjects to students grades K-12. The past 10 years I spent teaching high school students English, literature, credit recovery, writing and reading. I am an excellent reader and writer and accomplished at sharing these passions and skills with students. I believe education is the greatest tool a person can possess, and helping to provide students with a good education is the most positive and proactive way to make a difference in the evolution of our world. Literacy skills are crucial to the advancement of all learning.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is guided by the student, curriculum and situation. It is crucial to evaluate where a student is in the learning process, understand how each learns best and be clear regarding course expectations. Developing specific strategies and changing with challenges that arise is essential. I am kind, patient and creative, have high expectations of myself and others, and believe that all people can learn. A key to meeting the needs of students is to have healthy and professional boundaries while creating good relationships; one of my greatest strengths is relating to students on a personal level and then tailoring the learning to this real person. I look forward to being involved with people who choose to learn.
