Experience Summary
From early grade school through high school and college, classmates recognized my scholastic aptitude and frequently consulted me for informal tutoring, while teachers recruited me for more formal assignments tutoring remedial classmates. In high school and college, I specifically tutored in earth science, biology, chemistry, AP biology, microbiology, immunology, organic chemistry, anatomy, physiology, high school and college writing. I have several years volunteer experience teaching English and general studies to non English-speaking teenage and adult refugees. As a highly successful medical and graduate student, I developed excellent study skills that I have shared with inexperienced and/or easily distracted students.
Teaching Style
Being a confident, approachable, and well-mannered, I am very comfortable working with students and their parents one-on-one in their homes or other private settings. I enjoy communicating with parents and caregivers to involve them in support of their students’ learning. I take special joy in encouraging bright students who have the skills to succeed, but need help realizing and organizing those skills. While I have unabashedly high standards, nothing pleases me more than to reward good effort. Most importantly, I have a passion for knowledge and delight in sharing my enthusiasm with other students.
