Experience Summary
I am three semesters away from completing two degrees, BS Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as BS Chemistry, at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I have a solid background in mathematics as well as biology and chemistry. I tutored math, pre-algebra through first semester calculus, at Lake Superior College from the beginning of fall semester 2008 to the end of spring semester 2009.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working one on one or with small groups of students. I enjoy the challenges of tutoring teenagers, as well as adults. I am a firm believer in teaching by example, and gaining fundamental understanding of material as opposed to “teaching for a test.” I engage students and try to challenge the confidant while offering support to the less self-assured. The reason that I choose to tutor is not so much for the money but for the gratifying feeling of helping someone succeed, and I sincerely believe that comes through in my approach.
