Experience Summary
I taught for 8 years in a Title 1 Elementary school in North Fort Myers. The population was and still is over 90% free and reduced lunch. I taught 4th and 5th grades for 4 years and then taught science as an exploratory to all of the students for 4 years. I developed my curriculum for all grade levels in science, connected them to the building block and Sunshine State Standards, and created assessments.
Currently, I am teaching Life Science to 7th graders at a Cape Coral middle school which is 5 miles form my home. I taught Science for 6th, 7th and 8th ESE students who had learning disabilities there for two years and ESOL students last year.
Teaching Style
I like to teach science because it gives me many opportunities to teach using my preferred styles. I like to use cooperative learning, have the students investigate questions, and use hands on activities with real world examples. I try to build relationships with all of my students and their families.
