Experience Summary
As a teenager, I learned the importance of having role models, both in and out of the classroom. Some of my biggest influences are old teachers and coaches. After I graduated high school, I attended the University of Florida, where I majored in Telecommunications, and had an outside study in English. This led me to substitute in Marion County for a year. After one year of subbing, I decided I wanted to enrich the lives of adolescents full-time. I became a teacher at my former high school, Vanguard, where I stayed for two years. I taught twelfth grade English, and then turned to teaching Intensive Reading to sophomores.
Teaching Style
Enriching the lives of today’s youth is something very dear to my heart. With the hustle and bustle of our fast-paced world, it gets hard for them to find out who they are, and focus on what they need to be doing. I feel they push their education to the side, because they are forced to become adults too soon. I also feel that focus will not be regained until they find an instructor or tutor who they feel cares about THEM. I don’t judge any student for any reason. I believe all children learn differently, and some need a more unconventional approach to understand what they are studying. My biggest goal is helping these kids and making an impact on their life. I want them to remember me as the “tutor who cares”.
