Experience Summary
I have taught students with specific learning needs which were often not adaquately accomodated in the general curriculum.Several students were able to return to the regular curriculum while others benefitted from continued small group highly individualized instruction.
I have also worked with youngsters whose specialized needs necessitated highly individual learning and behavior management programs.
I have also worked with adults and taught English at community college
Teaching Style
My teaching style is student centered in that I support each
student's learning style and readiness.I can assess the zone of proximal development(ZPD)and use this information to guide students to the next level.When teaching reading I use
a variety of concrete matereals as needed.I also use choral reading ,taped stories. Learning games are often an effective way to support memorization.While progress is it's own reward,I provide a variety of reinforcements for good work and positive attitide
