Experience Summary
For five years I taught swimming lessons. While swimming isnotan academic subject, this experience taught me the essentials of teaching. I worked with a large range of ages, from six months to sixty years. While in college I was a tutor/editor in the writing center all three years. Upon graduation I took two part time jobs tutoring English at elementary and secondary levels, at Knowledge Points of Tampa Bay and Lindamood- Bell learning processes of South Tampa.
Teaching Style
I rely heavily on Socratic questioning, to strengthen the students own thinking; my goal is for him/her to not need me. I use symbol and concept imagery language to ensure the student is not simply repeating, but seeing and understanding. Learning, especially at the lower levels, need not be boring, and I enjoy teaching through games, and in counter culture environments such as reading on bean bags or under a tree. I am flexible and creative.
