Experience Summary
I have been an computer and communication system engineer for more than 20 years. During that time I have completed a masters degree in Computer Science and and MBA. Along the way I have been president and chief education officer for a computer user group for over three years, I have shepherded my two children from kindergarten through four years of college each and I have tutored distance learning engineering classes for the University of Florida at Harris.
When young, my children required a more detailed and patient approach than would a fellow engineer. When teaching to a formal curriculum, a structured approach is required to insure the proper material is covered and there is a strict time limit.
Teaching Style
My family have been teachers for many years starting with my grandfather and continuing with my mother and my sisters. I enjoy guiding students into areas of knowledge that eventually surpass my own abilities. With today's emphasis on math and science I feel I have a unique ability to make a difference in the lives of our children. My learning abilities were revolutionized by a single teacher in 4th grade that took the time and patience to teach me how to read. I have dyslexia but am an avid reader due to her efforts. I have the patience and persistence to make a difference in the lives of my students.
