Experience Summary
As a graduate of Jacksonville University, I feel I received an excellent education and want to give back to the community. There is not enough emphasis placed on education as it was during my growing up years. I fear that the focus has turned and it is centered on sports not academics. I feel there can be a happy medium reach in which students can get and experience the best of both worlds. I achieved in sports and academics but I made it my mission and promise to myself to graduate with honors. There is a whole world out there to learn about through education and if the learning process is done where the child is both motivated and shows a definite interest, it becomes a win-win situation.
Teaching Style
I like to teach using everyday life experiences and things that are relative to the tutee. One can read MacBeth and other writers from the past and still be motivated to learn. I don't believe in memorization because that is not learning. I want the child to carry his newly learned knowledge well into his future and always have it available in the back of his mind. It should not be forgotten but built upon. It's like building a brick wall, one brick at a time. It does take time but when that final brick is put in place, what a masterpiece!
