Experience Summary
My experience in education has taken many paths. I began my teaching as an elementary school teacher. I thought third gradein a Catholic elementary school and began the first Kindergarten program at that school. Along my path I have also taught Social Studies and was in charge of the Library at an inner city school in Miami. There have been many turns in my teaching experience,but, the most satisfying teaching challenge is the one I have undertaken as a teacher for children with learning disabilities. I have been with a school called Dreams Are Free and we educate students who have a variety of learning disabilities. I consider my being able to teach my class a privilege and I learn from my students just as much as they learn from me.
Teaching Style
My teaching style would be based on the direct method of teaching. I like to show my students the way to the information or how to solve a problem and then have the student find their way to solving a problem. Working with these special students is very satisfying. Being able to watch them be successful and feel that they can is the greatest experience in the world. I believe that ALL children can learn. This is why the strategy of differentiated instruction is so crucial to a special needs child. I attempt to work based on the difficulty the student is having. I love to see my students succeed and feel like they are special. This makes all my efforts worthwhile. I would like to be able to extend my love and commitment of education.
