Experience Summary
I graduated from Appalachian State as an English teacher and taught for 3 years at Horace Mann Middle School, a Title I school in Dade county. For the last 3 to 4 years I have been teaching at Conniston Middle School, a Title I middle school located in Palm Beach County. In both instances, many of my students were Spanish speakers, and since I am bilingual in English and Spanish, I was able to communicate with greater efficacy. This, in turn, was reflected in their grades and test scores as they accelerated their learning gains in my class.
Teaching Style
First and foremost, I am fair; however, my philosophy is one of common sense. As I tell all of my students, the only way to acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to pass my class is to put in the time. I live by the three "D's:" Dedication. Discipline. Desire.
A great part of my job is to motivate and coach the students into wanting to succeed. Ultimately, that is the goal of every teacher, myself included: that the student succeed. In the classroom and in life.
