Experience Summary
I am a retired classroom teacher from Michigan Public School Systems, with 30 plus years teaching experience. I have experience at all levels (7-12) of English, Speech Education, and Drama. I have also have two years experience in the areas of ESL/ELL with my previous school district. I have taught primarily at the high school level, and during that time, I taught 9th, 10th grade Language Arts, 9-12 Theatre, and 9-12 Speech classes. Since retiring, I worked with a local government grant program for youthful offenders, teaching GED classes and preparation for the FCAT exam. Reading and English were my focus.
Teaching Style
I retired from a class A school district in Michigan where I was basically the theatre department. I ran an active program for the high school, and produced two to three major plays a year. I also taught all levels of English in the classroom. I would describe myself as a likeable teacher, who got results with the majority of students I worked with. I am an outgoing, friendly person, who understands that students learn at different degrees, but that all students can improve - with the help of teachers, family and community.
