Experience Summary
I started tutoring students in Hebrew when I was fourteen years old, and continued as a teacher's assistant throughout high school. I loved teaching and decided to pursue teaching as a profession. I earned a BA and K-8 Massachusetts State Teacher Certification, as well as an MA in Education and Administration. I have worked with students of all ages, from preschool through adults, teaching a variety of subjects over the past 25 years. Most recently, I have trained teachers in classroom management skills, accommodating the needs of exceptional students in their classes, lesson planning, and curriculum development.
Teaching Style
As the parent of a college student with Asperger’s and several learning disabilities, I know firsthand that connecting with a teacher who is kind, creative, patient, and most of all, who believes in her students, can make a world of difference to someone who is struggling to learn. I am that teacher. I strive to understand my students’ individual learning styles, drawing upon Multiple Intelligence theory when appropriate. I have high expectations for my students and will not let them take the easy way out. I am also my students’ biggest cheerleader, celebrating every learning victory, big or small. I have yet to meet a child who cannot or does not want to learn; the challenge is finding the key that will unlock their door to success.
