Experience Summary
I have studied math up until the calculus level, and have tutored students in high school on the mathematics problems of the SAT. Additionally, I have undergone rigorous writing classes in college. I have tutored vocabulary, poetry, and other types of writing as well. Spanish was one of my minors, and I achieved an advanced level in the language which I utilized during tutoring sessions with native Spanish speaking students.
My major in college was internationally focused, and my other minor was Sociology. Hence, fields pertaining to the social sciences are also subjects that I have proficiency in.
Teaching Style
Tutoring is my favorite way to interact with students academically. A reason for this is because one can present information most effectively for a specific student. There are little to no distractions, and the one on one setting can be much less intimidating for the student and lead to better performance and comprehension.
Patience, listening, and adaptation are important factors in tutoring for me, as they allow for better presentation of the material. Students should be challenged, not overwhelmed or stressed out. At the end of the day, they should feel accomplished.
