About Me

Experience Summary

I taught high school for one year and middle school for a year and a half. I was certified to teach social studies 6-12, though I have let my certification expire. I have worked with middle school students for the past four years in an administrative and service capacity. I am an ex-Member of the Florida House of Representatives and have informally many students at the middle school level. My degree is is in Business, but my passion is social studies and reading.

Teaching Style

Teaching is enjoyable to me, but the bureaucracy of the school systems is not. I believe that there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to helping students learn. My children attended Montessori school during their elementary school years, and benefitted greatly from that method of education. They were treated as individuals and it well prepared them for the next steps in their educations. One of my children is a Judge and another is a doctor, so it must have worked. That type of individual attention draws me to tutoring.
