Experience Summary
I am currently waiting for my certification from the Florida Department of Education, to teach math from grades 6 to 12, and chemistry from grades 6 to 12.
I was a substitute teacher in the Folsom Cordova School District in California during the 2007-2008 school year. I am currently working a substitute teacher in the Flagler County, Florida School District.
I have worked as an engineer for 3M, ITW, Medtronic, and Waste Management. I have two patents. The first is developing a bio-stable polyurethane that potentially be used as an implantable material. The second was a membrane that filters out radioactive ions out of waste streams. I have worked at SAC bases throughout the US. I will start a new career path teaching hopefully soon.
Teaching Style
After sub teaching the last couple of years I have found most kids want to learn but need a lot of "structure". If their personal "structure" isn't there it is difficult for them. This is also true for kids who are advanced. I believe in no cell phones, electronic devices, and trying to figure out what each child strengths and weaknesses are and then use those strengths to help them learn. I am not against having background music playing during homework time because it doesn't bother other children. It is a problem however in the classroom.
