Experience Summary
After graduating from the University of South Florida with my degree in special education, I was offered a position with Pasco County Schools. I was a full time teacher at Land o’ Lakes High School for two years. I taught students with learning disabilities in both a self-contained and co-teach environment. My primary subject areas were history, math, and reading. In addition, I have worked as a tutor to help my students pass the High School Competency Exam.
Teaching Style
I believe that my teaching style is best described as a demonstrator or personal model. I enjoy explaining the information and then coaching or guiding my students to develop and apply the skills and knowledge. I show my students how to properly do a task or work through a problem and then I'll help them master the task or problem solution. It's important that my students can independently solve similar problems by using and adapting demonstrated methods. I encourage student participation and adapt my information to include various learning styles. I believe that all children are capable of learning if given the proper tools, encouragement and feedback.
