Experience Summary
I have taught writing at the college level for more than eight years. I have taught at two state universities, one of the top ten community colleges in the US, and a private technical college. I have taught both remedial and pre-college English, English 101, English 102, American Literature, Creative Writing, Technical Communication, and Writing for Management. I can help with study skills, with master plans, and with reading comprehension and interpretation. In writing, I can help students with drafting, revision, style, and of course, grammar, syntax, and mechanics. I am also quite familiar in working with students who speak another language at home.
Teaching Style
I seek to help all students gain confidence in their writing and reading abilities. I have helped students in honing these skills in order to use writing for discovery, for organization, planning, and forethought, and for critical thinking. I find engaged teaching to be a wonderful experience, especially one-on-one and in small groups. Students usually direct my teaching style because I am present mainly to facilitate learning and to act as a guide.
