Experience Summary
Because I was fortunate enough to receive an education, I always felt compelled to give back to the community in the same way. From my years at Summerbridge (now Breakthrough Miami), I tutored elementary and middle school students in math, literature, English, science, and history. Afterwards, attending a prestigious liberal arts college allowed me to keep up with my various academic passions in addition to high school tutoring. I studied sciences and math to fulfill my pre-medical focus while working on writing and research with my degree in history.
Teaching Style
From my experience with my own education and in tutoring others, I realize that there is no such thing and an ignorant child. Rather, a successful student is a hard worker who often times needs a little guidance and patience. Because I am an easy-going and flexible person, I am able to connect to the child in fun and interesting ways. I try to use the same teaching techniques that helped me like flash cards, games, and better study skills. Frequently, I find that slowing down the curriculum and focusing on problem areas allow students to successfully grasp the subject matter.
