Experience Summary
The scope of my teaching experience is non-traditional teachings. I taught middle school girls and adults in craft courses. While my children were in middle school, I volunteered in their arts and craft classes. I taught senior adults in a beginner Microsoft Office class at the Sunshine Senior Center in Deltona.
While attending Daytona State College; Advance Technology Center was being build; I assisted an associate professor in ordering and setting up the materials testing laboratory. I volunteered to assist in teaching the first few classes.
I find it very rewarding when a student has learned the subject and has a feeling a pride. That will follow them into the next subjects, with the sense that they can accomplish anything.
Teaching Style
I do not have one teaching style. Just as people have individual learning styles, I adapt my teaching style to the student and to the course that I would be tutoring.
It is important that all students graduate with all the knowledge, skills, abilities, and values to have a happy and productive life. In order to have this happen, I do not believe that one teaching style fits all.
As a tutor I would show my students how to properly do a task, and then I will help them master the task. It is important the student understand and can independently demonstrate what they have learned.
No matter what teaching style I use, it will be a style that would be interesting and encourage the student to participation, and to ask for help.
