Experience Summary
My experience in tutoring computers for the last 6 years and facilitating study sessions in college for the last 4 years has refined my skills in directing absorption of knowledge in a direction that is organized and on-task. As an avid and trained grammarian and writer, my strengths are in English. As such, I was a paid tutor for Syntax, Principles of Modern Grammar, Phonology and Sociolinguistics classes over a few semesters. However, I am malleable to teach any subject to which I am exposed (astronomy, science, etc). You can always expect a professional approach to the job from me.
Teaching Style
A strength on which I have always prided myself is my ability to relate complex concepts with useful analogies and from different angles. I never underestimate a child's ability to learn something, so long as it's in a way in which they understand it. Curriculum development is also important. By that, I mean the creation of illustrations, tables, lists, acronyms, heuristics, and flash cards to aid a student in their thirst to learn. I am patient and fun, and working with children is something that has always animated and invigorated me. By getting a child to enjoy what he or she is learning, a tutor can open the floodgates to his or her potential and happiness.
