Experience Summary
During my time as a student in the University of Florida's Proteach Program I had many opportunities to work in various classroom settings and ultimately receive a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in children's literature. Since my graduation in 2003, I have worked as a fourth grade teacher, a middle school teacher in a Montessori school, and an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College. I have also worked as a private tutor. I have a strong background in literature and writing and feel prepared to work with students at every level.
Teaching Style
Maria Montessori, one of the most powerful women in the foundation of educational philosophy, once said "Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.” Each child must be seen as the individual that they are. Special attention needs to be placed on a child's growth both physically and emotionally and the education of that particular child should be the focus of the teacher. Each student should be viewed as a success.Focus should be placed on a child's strengths while working to build and boost those areas which are not their strongest. As a teacher, you have the power to make an impact.
