Experience Summary
I am a creative educator and development professional with over 15 years teaching, curriculum development and program implementation experience spanning several countries and a diversified portfolio of projects in the arts, health and social services, education, government, non-profit and for profit sectors. Many people who have taught at one time say they are former educators when listing their past employment as teachers. I am however, a lifelong educator. I have over a decade of teaching/training experience, particularly at the adult school, vocational setting or university level and more than five years of test preparation and materials development experience.
Teaching Style
I believe that each child's talents and abilities need to be nurtured through creative and constructive curriculum and delivery, including acknowledging the importance of integrating playtime with instruction. I have worked in many educational environments - public and private schools; juvenile detention facilities and home school cooperatives - each place offering it's own rules and protocol for developing and nurturing a child. One approach that I used in ALL these facilities yielded the best results for both child and educator (me!) and that was simply to follow this rule: provide trust and mutual respect, and give enough room for students to learn to make real, responsible choices in pursuing their true interests.
