Experience Summary
After graduating from college, I traveled overseas to teach children in a teacher shortage area. There I taught every subject for second grade, middle school English, pre-algebra, 3rd grade history, and drama. Upon returning to the States, I worked one on one with students in 4th grade who needed extra help in reading and math. I then had the opportunity to teach in a Kindergarten classroom where I worked one on one with students who struggled with reading, math, and behavior. I led two reading groups in daily reading exercises. I have received specialized training in Phonics. I currently teach high school drama and 7th grade Space and Earth Science.
Teaching Style
I love teaching children. I believe that when you find out what a child is excited about, what they are interested in and what they like to do, you can use these things to teach them. I am easy going and patient and love to praise my students. I use hands on activities and appealing objects to help students learn. Struggling students often get easily frustrated in school. I believe one on one help with a loving, patient teacher can help restore a love for learning.
