Experience Summary
I have always had an affinity for math and history. As a result, I went to Colorado State University to major in history, but I took a few math classes as well. I know how to do math up to Calculus 1. Last summer I tutored a girl going into the fourth grade. She came out of third grade not understanding any of the math taught, because the teacher believe that people should feel good, not actually learn the material. When she started fourth grade, she was at the forefront of her class in mathematical understanding.
Teaching Style
I am a very patient and kind hearted person. I am able to relate to teenagers and can get through to children. I find that as long as I have the students respect, then progress can be made. I do not come in demanding their respect or attempting to force their respect. I come in a friendly manner and I will conduct the course in that same manner. I don't have a problem laughing and joking about, but when push comes to shove, the material will always be gotten through. I want them to understand what they are learning.
