Experience Summary
I earned my BS in computer science from Washington University. I have prepared three high school students for the SAT. They ended up at Cornell, American, and UCSD. I have also prepared two middle school students for the SSAT. I have taught JAVA and English to high school students as well. I possess strong writing skills. I recognize good writing. I can improve a student's writing style and grammar.
Teaching Style
As everyone else touts, I can also relate to young adults. My method is simple and effective. I solve problems with my students. As I solve problems I explain the underlying concept/strategy/trick behind the problem. After explaining all the concepts my students and I go through as many problems as possible. I tweak their approach, and if necessary explain again the necessary concept. There is a lot of drilling involved. I assign very small homework assignments so that we do not "start fresh" each session.
