Experience Summary
I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in special education at Kent State University, and have a Bachelor's degree in Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences. I have not tutored before, but I have previously worked in various settings that allowed me to work with students in trying to achieve their Individualized Education Plan goals. My experiences have covered many different subject areas and daily functional skills as well. I have a lot of experience working with children with disabilities, which is what I am currently studying and the area in which I am pursuing a Master's degree in at Kent State. As a graduate student I am required to take coursework in all content areas including reading, language arts, math, and science, with a specific focus in reading.
Teaching Style
I love to teach and have a passion for working with students with disabilities. I believe all children can learn, but many have their own individual learning style. My goal is to modify and accommodate those students, so that they are able to succeed and receive a high quality education. I am extremely patient, organized, and creative. I enjoy trying a variety of approaches until I find what works best for each individual child. I believe as educators we are responsible for setting up our students for success. We should give them many opportunities to learn through their own discoveries, so they can take some ownership over their learning and feel motivation and pride in what they have accomplished.
