Experience Summary
After receiving a BS in Education from Illinois State University in 1997, I began teaching all subjects in grades K - 8 in the greater Chicago area over the course of 6 years (Fall 1998 - Spring 2005). After relocating to Delaware in 2005 I began full time substitute teaching in public schools, juvenile detention / rehabilitation facilities and part time tutoring (after school). For the past two years I have been working with families in early childhood education and intervention throughout the community in all settings.
Teaching Style
I have learned throughout my wide range of teaching experience that the most effective way for children and adults to learn is for the teacher to use the learning style of the student in planning instruction, and if the curriculum is set the teacher should have the ability to adapt the lesson appropriately. I have the skills to do both as a result of my training and experience. The reason I became an educator is because I have always had the desire to help others achieve their goals no matter what they might be! I work well with all ages in academic subjects AND early childhood development (Nanny 911/ birth to 5 year olds - behavioral, social/emotional, and cognitive).
