Experience Summary
Although my carreer has been based mostly on analytical environmental research( more then 2 dozens publications in scientific journals), supervision, and laboratory management, a major part of my activities have included some form of teaching. For several years I mentored graduate students at the School of Public Health associated with the State University of New York and the Department of Health and taught principles and applications of analytical environmental chemistry. I prepared chemists and health technicians for the optimum performance of their assignments, and instructed several groups of public health personnel on the importance and requirements of environmental chemical monitoring. Finally as a college student I headed a tutoring team for 6 years
helping college , and secondary school seniors in preparing for college admission or final college examinations I was consistently effective with a very high success rate .
With an undiminished passion for chemistry and teaching , and a considerable relevant expertise, I can provide accurate guidance and preparation for assured success in all aspects of chemical education
Teaching Style
For maximum success rate I find the following procedure satisfactory:
1.Determine the goals to achieve and the requirements for such achievement.
2.evaluate student’s abilities. deficiencies and desire to to cooperate to obtain desired results.
3prepare a step by step program for optimum results in accordance with 1. And 2. Above.
4. Discuss plan with student and incorporate acceptable variations to accommodate
Individual preferences.
5. Lecture with continuous student participation. Frequent request for clarification or additional explanations accepted and often proposed for accuracy and consolidation of learning.
6. Allocate sufficient time for individual study and assimilation of subject learned.
7.Testing and review of learned subjects with suggestion of correlation with associated subjects and use. Additional details discussed to reinforce memory and accuracy.
8. Review and testing of a number ( 10-15) learned subjects with correction of deficiencies .
9. General review and testing of all subjects learned and their correlations
10 motivate student to acquire confidence in his ability to explain accurately learned material as a prerequisite for increasing rate of success
