Experience Summary
As a private piano teacher, I have worked with students ranging in age from 4 years old to adult. I manage all scheduling, communication and finances for my private piano studio. Each student comes to his/her lesson with a different level of interest, experience and ability, and it is my job to further their music education accordingly. In addition to my personal expectations, I am accountable to students and parents, as measured by students' musical progress, enjoyment of lesson time, recital performance, and parents' recognition of value.
Teaching Style
My interest in learning styles began with studying language-learning and now applies on a daily basis to my private piano teaching. As a teacher, I have been described as patient but exacting, gentle but direct. I like to use friendly humor to correct and/or redirect a student, and I make a concerted effort to ask my students questions in an effort to help them "diagnose" the trouble that they are having and possible solutions. Parents recommend me as a piano teacher who is warm, encouraging, family-friendly, and humorous. Discovering what makes a students "tick", and how to help them learn what they need to learn, is my most interesting work challenge!
