Experience Summary
Education has played a major role in my life. I earned my degree in elementary education because I believe that everyone has the right to learn. I have been a substitute teacher for six years and taught in a fourth grade classroom during my 12-week student teaching practicum. The many research reports and essays that my graduate program required allowed me to sharpen my written and oral skills. I am an advent reader, and this has also helped me with my grammatical skills. During a long-term substitute assignment, I had the opportunity to tutor two first grade students in Language Arts and Math. My degree in business can be used as a tool to help students learn subjects related to business. I was in sales for five years and have excellent computational skills.
Teaching Style
As a mind motivator, I am the dynamic teacher that students need in their lives. I love integrating technology, (i.e. PowerPoint, video streaming and interactive games). I understand learning styles and have high expectation for all students. The importance of knowing what motivates students can help me hone in on what students need. I am a hands-on type of teacher, but students only learn by doing, therefore, the preparation of activities based on abilities and learning styles can help student move to the next level. These key components to learning help me plan lessons that are fun and motivational. Teachers should take the time to get to know their student’s needs so that they can build trust, and give the student the educational food that they are entitled to.
