Experience Summary
I have always been involved in education and I enjoy helping students! While I was at Purdue, I tutored Algebra, Geometry, and Trig to members of the Boilermaker football team from 1990-1993. After I graduated, I taught Russian and math at Lafayette Jefferson High School. I currently am a director of a non-profit organization in Indianapolis. We provide Spanish programs for children. My role is to hire, train, observe and coach teachers. I have tutored students in Math, Russian, English conversation/reading/writing, Microsoft Applications (Excel/Word/Powerpoint), Internet navigation, and Website sales.
Teaching Style
I have experience teaching in large and small groups, and one-on-one. I have worked with preschoolers, school-age children, and adults. My teaching styles and methods are adjusted based on students' needs and interests. Regardless of the subject, I try to make the subject matter relevant and interesting to the student. When appropriate, I use humor, jingles, mnemonics, and memorable examples to explain concepts. All students can learn. I think it is important for them to enjoy it, too!
